For the second consecutive year, Generali has received the highest ESG rating, AAA,from MSCI's analysis of more than 8,500 companies. MSCI is a leading provider of critical decision support tools and services for the global investment community, including climate and ESG focused indexes and data services.

In its assessment, MSCI noted Generali's integration of climate scenario analysis in underwriting activities and investment portfolios, as well as its leadership in human capital management and addressing cybersecurity issues.

“The excellent positioning in the most important international sustainability ratings confirms the Group's strategic commitment to contributing to the construction of a more just and resilient society. Today, all our activities are inspired by the ambition to be a Lifetime Partner, integrating sustainability into our four roles: as a responsible insurer, investor, employer, and corporate citizen” said Marco Sesana, Generali Group General Manager.

MSCI's rating also notes Generali's strong performance in responsible investing. In September, Generali closed its fifth green bond, which attracted an order book in excess of € 1.1 billion, more than double the size of the book, from around 180 international institutional investors. Generali also recently announced its newly created Generali Ventures unit would include a focus on healthcare and mobility insurtech and fintech - two segments where sustainability and ESG are gaining increasing interest.

Generali's MSCI rating comes on the heels of strong performance in the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indices, noting the insurer's strong performance in transparency and reporting, tax strategy, risk management, attention to cyber security and climate change strategy.
